CUMBERLAND – Betty Marie (Barnett) Davis, 87, of Cumberland, born and raised in Midlothian, MD, passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2017, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.

Born January 5, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Lee C. and Bertha M. (Williams) Barnett. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene R. Davis, in 1991; brothers, Paul W. Barnett and wife Sylvia, and Lee C. Barnett, Jr. and wife Lois; niece, Ann Barnett; and nephews, Thomas Barnett, and William Barnett.

Betty was a Fort Hill High School graduate. She went on to attend Sacred Heart Nursing School and graduated in 1951, the same year that she and Eugene were married. Betty spent most of her career as a public health nurse at the Allegany County Health Department. She leaves behind many close lifelong nursing friends, including the Birthday Group.

She enjoyed attending McKendree United Methodist Church, previously Potomac Park United Methodist Church. She also enjoyed traveling the United States and abroad, cruises, and bus trips with her friends. Betty visited Hawaii, Ireland, Wales, and much of Europe. Her gardens and flowers were also important to her. Most important, however, was her family. Betty was heavily involved in all of her grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s life events. She always showed her support for them at their sporting events and dance recitals and demonstrated her love for them at birthday parties.

Surviving Betty are daughter, Susan M. Bowman and husband John, Cumberland; son, Donald E. Davis and wife Beverly, Cumberland; grandchildren, Jeremy Bowman and wife Kate, Jacqueline Bokrosh, Ryan Davis, and Jennifer Davis; great-grandchildren, Maddox, Justus, and Archer Bokrosh, and Victoria Bowman; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Queenie.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 15205 McMullen Hwy SW, Cresaptown, on Thursday, August 31, 2017 from 7 to 9 pm. A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday, September 1, 2017 at 11 am with Pastor Lisa Boone. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.
