CUMBERLAND – Betty Roslyn Harper, 79, of Cumberland, passed away Monday, December 4, 2017, at the Devlin Manor Rehabilitation Center in Cumberland. She was born in Cumberland on June 6, 1938 to the late Guy C. Kline and Mary Pauline Kline. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers-in-law, Greg Mincey, of Florida, and Frank Kerchner of Cumberland.
Betty was a 1956 graduate of Fort Hill High School. She worked at Gehaus Market on Maryland Avenue. She then worked at Acme Meat Market at While Oaks for a number of years. Later, she worked for the Allegany County Board of Education as an aide for disabled children and kindergarteners for the bus system. Finally, she was a bus captain for the Central Assembly of God for a number of years.
She is survived by her sons, Walter C. Harper, Jr., of Cumberland, and Royce H. Harper, of Cumberland; sisters, Lora Kerchner, of Cumberland, and Linda Mincey, of Florida; nephews, Brian Mincey, of Florida, Travis Mincey and wife Jen, of Florida, and their children, Sadey & Paten.
A funeral service, officiated by Pastor Doug Seamen, will be held Friday, December 8, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at the Central Assembly of God, 2020 Bedford Street, Cumberland, MD, 21502. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service.
Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
