RIDGELEY – Dorothy Lee Mellotte, 92, of Ridgeley, WV, went to be with the Lord on Sunday October 15, 2017 at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.
Born on May 8, 1925 in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Roy E. and Lillian C. Smith. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Franklin H Mellotte, Sr.; four sisters, Catherine Shearer, Emma Jean Steirstorfer, Miriam Davis, Charlotte Hodges; one brother Roy E. Smith.
Mrs. Mellotte was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school, was a member of the choir and loved to sing, as well as other ministries. She was a “Rosie the Riveter” during the WWII era. Mrs. Mellotte worked at several pharmacies over the years, and helped Guy Dowling open Hank’s Pharmacy in Cumberland, from where she retired.
Surviving are one daughter, Patricia Ann Bosley and husband Harry of Aiken SC; three sons, Richard Lee Mellotte and wife Joan of LaVale, Franklin Hazelle Mellotte, Jr. and wife Donna of Ridgeley WV, and David Michael Mellotte and wife Deborah of Ridgeley WVa.; brother, James Smith of Short Gap WV; ten grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Cornerstone Baptist Church, 930 Frederick Street, Cumberland on Thursday, October 19, 2017 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted at the Cornerstone Baptist Church on Friday, October 20, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor David Hattenfield officiating.
Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Mrs. Mellotte’s memory may be made to the Cornerstone Baptist Church Building Fund, 930 Frederick Street, Cumberland, MD 21502.
