Ridgeley, WV- Gary Dennis “Bucky” Butts, 77, of Ridgeley and Middleburg, FL died Saturday, December 24th, 2017 at his home in Middleburg following a 6 month battle with cancer.
Born on August 11,1940, he was the son of the late Paul Butts and Olivia (Merritt) Butts.
Raised in Cumberland, “Bucky” also resided in Ridgeley, and Middleburg Florida through the Winter. He was a 1958 graduate of Fort Hill High School, going on to join the Army. He then went to work for UPS until he opened “My Place” in 1974 with his longtime friend Jerry Young. An avid golfer, Bucky was a longtime member of the Cumberland Country Club. He was also a member of the Goodfellowship Club.
Surviving is his daughter Kelly Hymes and husband Bill, daughter Marcy Dearcangelis and husband Nick, son Gary Butts, son Chris Butts, son Brian Butts and Fiancé Beata Ignaszewska , son Lyle Butts and daughter Taylor Butts. Grandchildren G Payne Turner, Aerianna Butts, Gracen Butts, Nick Butts, Jack Butts and Olivia Butts. His sister Paula McIntosh and husband Joe; cousin and dear friend Buddy Butts and wife Joyce; several nieces and nephews and an overwhelming number of friends.
His wish was to be cremated. There will be a visitation at Scarpelli Funeral Home,P.A., Cumberland, on January 6, 2018 from 2:00 until 4:00pm. A memorial service will follow with Pastor Bruce McBride officiating at 4:00 pm.
The family would like to thank Dr. Zaman, Dr. Watkins and all the staff at WMHS and the Schwab Cancer center for the exemplary care given to their father during his illness.
