DAWSON – Harold Von Van Pelt, Sr., 89, of Dawson (Rawlings), MD, passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2017.
Born on May 12, 1927, he was the son of the late James Roy Van Pelt and Nellie Crossland Freeland. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Alma Juanita (O’Haver) Van Pelt; daughter, Dawn Allen; two grandsons, little Buddy, and Ted; granddaughter, Tiffany Van Pelt; two sisters, Madilyn Bowman, and Dorothy Hartman; and brother, Lester Van Pelt.
Harold served in the United States Army. He also retired from the Kelly Springfield Tire Company after working for the company for 43 years. In his spare time, he loved farming.
Harold is survived by ten children: Harold Van Pelt, Jr. and wife Faye, Dennis Van Pelt and wife Roxanne, Dorothy Van Pelt Berends, Patricia Van Pelt Harris, Brenda Van Pelt Moorehead and husband Terry, Herby Van Pelt and wife Christa, Carolyn Van Pelt, Grant Van Pelt, Tracey Van Pelt Keister and husband Darrell, Hickory Van Pelt and wife Jennifer; 19 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
Family and friends will be received at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A. 15205 McMullen Hwy, Cresaptown on Friday, April 21, 2017 from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 P.M.
A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Jack Lease and Pastor Donna Leatherman officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be in Dawson Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Derek Allen, Von Allen, John Van Pelt, Guss Van Pelt, Tommy Harris, Terry Harris, Terry Stokes, and Joseph Berends.
