CUMBERLAND — Jean Marie Hartman (Iser) devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on May 31, 2017, at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.

Born on May 13, 1945, in Keyser, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Anna Mae Iser and Raymond Iser. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Dillon Darr. She graduated from Keyser High School in 1963.

She is survived by her husband of fifty three years, James W. Hartman; a son Steven Hartman; daughter, Connie Darr and husband Robert; daughter Sue Ellen Sowers and husband Herman; grandchildren, Christopher Toey, Dustin Darr, Hannah Sowers, and Wesley Sowers; great grandchild, Adelyn Toey. Jean is also survived by her brother Thomas Iser and wife Beverly; brother William Iser and wife Donna; sister Jane Shook and husband Errol; and numerous nieces, nephews, and in-laws.

Jean was a stay at home mother until her youngest daughter graduated. She then went to work at the Kensington for approximately ten years, where she was loved by both the patients and co-workers.

Jean enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchild. She had a kind heart and a contagious smile. Throughout the lives of her children and grand-children, she treated their friends as if they were her own children. Many of those referred to her as their second mom. Jean always put others wants and needs before her own. She never met a stranger. She loved flowers, animals, and to sing. She was the sunshine of her loved ones lives.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 15205 McMullen Hwy SW, Cresaptown, on Saturday, June 3, from 3 to 4 p.m. A memorial service will be conducted at the funeral home at 4 p.m. with Pastor Bruce McBride officiating.
