Cumberland—Jeffrey Lynn Kuykendall, 63, of Cumberland, passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2017.

Born in Cumberland, MD, on January 27, 1954, he was the son of the late Maxine (Leese) and Ernest R. Kuykendall, Sr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-mother, Evelyn Hamner Kuykendall; and step-sister, Susan DeHart.

Jeff was a graduate of Allegany High School, class of 1972. Following high school, he attended Allegany College of Maryland. For over 30 years, Jeff was employed at Hiser’s Building Supply Company as office manager. Jeff was a member of the Western Maryland Building and Construction Trades Council, and he had served as the organization’s president. Jeff enjoyed playing music; he was guitarist who played in local bands. He was also a proud Harley Davidson owner who enjoyed riding his bike. Additionally, camping and traveling with his friends were a big part of Jeff’s life.

Jeff is survived by his brothers, Ernest R. “Russ” Kuykendall, Jr. and wife Norma, Derwood, MD, and Michael Joe “Mike” Kuykendall, Silver Spring, MD; niece, Karen Ann Grace and husband Kevin, Seattle, WA; great-nephews, Elliott and Oliver Grace; step-sisters, Joyce Simpson and husband Charles, Princess Anne, MD, Carolyn Dillow and husband Charles, LaVale, Dr. Candace Todd and husband Randy, AL; and his former wife, Karyl Kuykendall. Jeff was also survived by several step-nieces and step-nephews.

At Jeff’s request, there will be a graveside service at the Greenwell Cemetery on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at 2 P.M.  In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Jeff’s memory may do so by making contributions to the Greenwell Cemetery Association, c/o William Kuykendall, 875 Patterson Creek Road, Keyser, WV 26726.
