LAVALE—John Joseph Wagner, Sr., 73, of Lavale, passed away Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center
Born June 14, 1943, he was the son of the late Josephine Wagner. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eileen Wagner; and one brother, William Wagner.
Mr. Wagner was a retired Carman from the CSX Railroad. Family and holidays were always special to him. He loved his children, grandchildren, and his great-grandchildren dearly. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
He leaves behind his five children, Sherry Holstine and husband, Ed of Finzel, John J. Wagner, Jr. and wife, Robin, Cumberland, Douglas E. Wagner, Frederick, Heather Gardner, Flintstone, and Nicole Devore, Cumberland; 10 grandchildren, Stacy Natasha, Anna Holstine, and Megan Van Meter, Amanda and AJ Wagner, Sammy Arnold, Shannon Gardner, Doniel George and Thomas Pryor and many great-grandchildren; and his BFF, Lou Sharp.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Friday, June 16, 2017, from 7 to 9 pm.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Cumberland, on Saturday, June 17, 2017, at 10 a.m. with Fr. Joe Tuscan, O.F.M., Cap. as celebrant.
In accordance with John’s wishes, he will be cremated after the services.
Inurnment in Maryland State Veteran’s Cemetery, Rocky Gap, will be private. Military honors will be accorded by Ft. Cumberland Post 13 Honor Guard.
