Cresaptown—John Thompson Sindy, Jr., 90, of Cresaptown, passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2017, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.
Born in Cumberland, MD, on November 28, 1926, he was the son of the late Pearl (Snyder) and John Thompson Sindy, Sr. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by two brothers, Leroy W. Sindy and wife Catherine, and Paul T. Sindy and wife Delores; and sister, Elizabeth Higgs and husband Shirl.
John was a graduate of Allegany High School, class of 1948 and Catherman’s Business School. John was a veteran of World War ll, during which he served in the Navy on the Floyd B. Parks Battleship. John was employed at Economy Wholesale Company until he retired. He was a member of the Cresaptown Eagles, VFW Henry Hart Post 1411, Tin Can Sailors, and the Floyd B. Parks Association. John was a Methodist by faith.
John is survived by his wife of 66 years, Theresa (O’Baker) Sindy; son, John G. Sindy and wife Diana, LaVale; grandchildren, Bethany Sindy, Stephanie Sindy, Cody Sindy, and Chad Sindy; and very devoted niece, Nancy Elliott and her husband John.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 15205 McMullen Hwy SW, Cresaptown, on Monday, September 4, 2017 from 4-8 P.M. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at 11 A.M. with Rev. Harold McClay, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Burial Park.
