FROSTBURG – Norma Wanita Owens, 89, of Frostburg, formerly of Cumberland, passed away Friday, July 21, 2017, at the Frostburg Village Nursing Home.
Born August 25, 1927, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Anna Long. In addition to her parents, Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Albert C. Owens, on January 4, 2006; grandson, Albert Keener; sister, Kathleen Weller; niece, Wilda Ann Long; and son-in-law, Wayne Keener.
Norma attended Fort Hill High School. Norma was a member of Evangelical United Methodist Church until it closed its doors. She went on to attend Christ United Methodist Church. Her passion in life was collecting antiques. She and her husband even owned and operated their own antique store, Al’s Trading Post, on Greene Street in Cumberland. Norma was an exceptionally hard worker. Friends and family still remark on her work ethic, saying she only ever stopped when she became physically unable to work.
Norma is survived by her daughter, Maxine Keener, Cumberland; grandchildren, Dwayne Keener, Cumberland, and Kevin Keener, Cresaptown; and great-grandchildren, Jacob Keener, Shasta Keener, and Austin Keener.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, on Monday, July 24, 2017, from noon to 1 p.m. A funeral service will immediately follow at the funeral home at 1 p.m. Interment will be in Hillcrest Burial Park.
