Cumberland—O. Theodore “Ted” Lynch, 89, of Cumberland, passed away Thursday, October 26, 2017 at the Allegany Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Keyser, WV, he was the son of the late Floyd F. and Bertie (Whetzel) Lynch. In addition to his parents, Ted was also preceded in death by his brothers, Harvey and Maxwell Lynch; sister, Zenella Cole; his beloved great granddaughter, Madison Lynch; and grandson, Jason Schoenadel.
Ted was a graduate of Keyser High School, class of 1947. Following high school, he served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. Ted became an electrician, and worked for Local 307 until his retirement.
Ted attended Christ United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Cumberland Eagles, VFW Henry Hart Post 1411, American Legion Ft. Cumberland Post 13, and the Goodfellowship Club. For over 40 years, Ted shot Shuffleboard with the Allegany County League as a member of the Corner Tavern Team.
Ted is survived by his wife of 66 years, Wealthea “Woe” Lynch; sons, Ted Lynch and JoAnn, Carpendale, WV, Gary M. Lynch and wife Sharon, Carpendale; grandchildren, T.J. Lynch and wife Aimee, Angier, NC, Christy Burkhart and husband Mike, Westover, WV, Alicia Tyron and husband Ladd, Litchfield, OH, Sherri Lagratta and husband Jim, Cumberland; great-grandchildren, Zachary, Mikey, Lucas, Lilyann, Sloan, Layne, Arijean, Mariah, Quentin, Chyna, Dakota, Kali, and Haden; great-great-grandchildren, Isabella, Hunter, Colton, and Reagan; nieces, Barbara Estel and husband Dale, Grafton, WV, Sharon Alleva, Cumberland, and Rhonda Crossland and husband Ed, Cumberland; nephew, Elwood Cole and wife Janie, Westernport; and good friends, Mike and Donna O’Brian, and Phyllis Twigg, all of Cumberland.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland on Sunday, October 29, 2017 from 2-5 P.M. The Electricians Memorial Service will be conducted at the funeral home on Sunday at 5 P.M.
A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday, October 30, 2017 at 11 A.M. at the funeral home with Rev. Harold McClay officiating. Friends will be received one hour prior to the funeral service.
Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Military Honors will be accorded at the gravesite by the Fort Cumberland Post 13 Honor Guard.
