BEANS COVE, PA – Paul Vernon Ruby, 86, of Beans Cove, Pa., passed away on August 20, 2017, at the Cumberland Healthcare Center.

Born on October 23, 1930, in Beans Cove, Pa., he was the son of the late Henry F. and Bessie (Heavener) Ruby. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, John, Arnold, and Grant Ruby; his daughter, Diana Bennett; and his son-in-law, David Eichelman.

Paul was a United States Army Veteran who served during the Korean Conflict.  He was employed for many years at Southern States in Cumberland. Paul loved hunting, fishing, gardening, and being outdoors.

Surviving are his wife, Betty Ruby; his daughter, Mary Eichelman; his son, Paul “Kenny” Ruby and wife Bonnie; his son-in-law, Gary Bennett; his sister, Myrtle Robinette; his grandchildren, Sydney and Olivia Bennett; and his step-grandchildren, Braden Karns, Christa Davis, and Rebecca Elbin.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Thursday, August 24, 2017 from 7 to 9 p.m.

A Funeral Service will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday, August 25, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Larry Trail officiating.

Interment will be in the Beans Cove Methodist Church Cemetery.

Military Honors will be accorded by the Post 13 Veteran’s Honor Guard.
