RAWLINGS – Rev. Howard Benjamin Frankenberry, 84, of Rawlings, formerly of Cresaptown, received his Heavenly Reward on Sunday, January 29, 2017 at his residence in Rawlings.

Born on December 24, 1932, in Cresaptown, he was the son of the late Harry S. Frankenberry and Mary E. Frankenberry (Weslow). In addition to his parents, Howard was also recently preceded in death by his wife Shirley Frankenberry (Wolford); brother, Charles E. Frankenberry; sister, Gladys A. Glover, an infant sister, Iona Frankenberry; and two grandchildren, Carrie A. Frankenberry and Amanda K. Frankenberry.

Howard was a graduate of Allegany High School, class of 1951, graduating in June of 1951, the same day his father, Harry Frankenberry, died of pneumonia. Howard served in the U.S. Army. When he returned, he married the Love of his Life, Shirley L. Wolford. He went to work at the Frostburg Undergarment Plant. Howard went to work for the Kelly Tire Plant in 1957. He worked with both the staff employees, and then the labor employees, until Kelly’s closing in the late 1980s.

Howard was a founding member of the First Pilgrim Holiness Church in Cresaptown in 1965, which later became the First Wesleyan Church in 1968. He founded and pioneered the Keyser Wesleyan Church in 1972 that later became the Oak Hill Church in McCoole, MD in 1976. Howard was a faithful man of God, sharing his love of God to all he came in contact with. For the past thirteen years, Howard attended the Friends in Jesus Church, Warrior Drive, Cresaptown, where his son is the Founding Pastor. Howard became Ordained as an IPHC Minister on March 23, 2008.

Howard is survived by his four sons, Barth H. Frankenberry Sr. and wife Donna K., Cresaptown, Steven M. Frankenberry and wife Donna J., Cresaptown, David J. Frankenberry and wife Lorinda, Florence, KY, and Daniel P. Frankenberry Sr. and wife Tammy, Wiley Ford, WV; grandchildren, Barth H. Frankenberry Jr. and wife Shannon, Benjamin H. Frankenberry, Destinee Frankenberry, Sonya Morgan and husband Chris, Amber Talley, Kyla Crouch and husband Ethan, Kaylen Frankenberry, Kourtlyn Frankenberry, Keshia Miller and husband Seth, Kristen Cary and husband Benjamin, and Daniel P. Frankenberry Jr.; great-grandchildren, Barth III, Samuel, Bryson, Trenton, Briah, Gage, Lilly, Alyvia, Ethan, Houston, Aleeah, Eli, and Levi.

Friends and family will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 15205 McMullen Highway SW, Cresaptown, on Thursday, February 2, 2017 from 3 to 8 p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted on Friday, February 3, 2017 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Barth Frankenberry and a longtime family friend, Pastor David Paul officiating.

Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Barth Frankenberry Jr., Barth Frankenberry III, Hank Hager, Christopher Morgan, Trenton Morgan, Daniel Frankenberry Jr., Seth Miller, and Ethan Crouch, Jr., and honorary pallbearer Benjamin Frankenberry.
