LONACONING- Richard V. Clites, 86, of Lonaconing, passed away on Saturday, March 18, 2017, at the Frostburg Village Nursing Home.

Born on January 20, 1931, in Dudley, Pa., he was the son of the late Samuel and Clara Faye (Woomer) Clites. He was also preceded in death by his two brothers, Scott and James Clites; and one sister, Sonja Trahern.

Richard was a Veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Era and served in the United States Marine Corps. He was a member of the Centre Street United Methodist Church, the Fleet Reserve, the Vietnam Veterans of America, the VFW, and the American Legion. Richard enjoyed music and playing his guitar with many local bands, NASCAR, and Washington Redskins.

Surviving are his wife of 37 years, Rose Clites; his daughters, Pam Clites, Suzie Grissett and husband Rodney, of Florida, and Rhonda Blubaugh; one son, Terry Clites and wife Rosemary, of California; one brother, Charles Clites and wife Cathy, of Baton Rouge LA; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Wednesday, March 22, from 5 to 7 p.m.

A Funeral Service will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday, March 23, at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Tom Young officiating.

Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

Military Honors will be conducted by the Vietnam Veterans of America Post 172.
