LAVALE – Russell “Russ” Glen Bittner, 76, of LaVale, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 5, 2017 at the Western Maryland Health System Regional Medical Center.

Russ was born, in Frostburg, on July 6, 1940 to the late Edward L. and Margaret E. (Buckalew) Bittner. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Edward Lewis Bittner, Jr.

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Beverly Jeanetta (Butts) Bittner, the love of his life, whom he married on October 23, 1965. Russ is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Russ attended Allegany High School, R.E.T.S. Electronics Schools in Baltimore, MD, Catherman’s Business School, and ACC in Computer Education. He was employed by Cumberland Electronic Co. for 32 years, and Service World for five years, upon his retirement. He served in the U.S. Air Force, stationed in both the United States and Canada, where he was an Aircraft Mechanic. Russ grew up in Frostburg, MD, and Homewood Addition, Cumberland. He attended the Christian Fellowship Church. II Timothy 4:7 – “I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”

Friends and family will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, on Wednesday, March 8, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 8, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Charles Riggleman officiating.

Interment will be at Frostburg Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Christian Fellowship Church Fund, 16 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, MD 21502.
