SHORT GAP WVA—Warren Dale Miller, 93, of Short Gap, WVa., passed away on Monday April 17, 2017, at the Western Maryland Health System Regional Medical Center.
Born February 23, 1924, in Grantsville, MD, he was the son of the late Nevin J. and Ruth E. (Wisseman) Miller. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by wife, Nellie S. (Shanholtz) Miller; his son, Stephen Dale Miller; and sister, Mary Kathryn Phillips.
Mr. Miller was a United States Air Force Veteran and served his country during the WWII Era. He served his country from 1943 to 1946, during which he earned the Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Medal, Asian and Pacific Medal, and the World War II Victory Ribbons. Mr. Miller worked for Potomac Edison for 37 years and was a member of the Wiley Ford Church of the Brethren. He was an accomplished blacksmith and enjoyed making ornamental work and doing demonstrations at festivals.
Surviving are his son, Timothy Miller and wife Shari, of Newark, Delaware; his grandson, Ian Richard Miller, of Newark, Delaware; his brother, John Richard Miller, of Short Gap, WVa.; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Monday, April 24, 2017, from 10:00 a.m. until noon.
A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at noon with Reverend Benny Brakeall officiating.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Wiley Ford Church of the Brethren, PO Box 7, Wiley Ford, WV 26767-0007, in Mr. Miller’s name.
