Bel Air, MD – William Ernest “Bill” Clark, was called to Special Duty in Heaven on March 29, 2017. There is one more Guardian Angel in Heaven! He was 61 years young. He was preceded in death by his father, William A. Clark; and his mother, Carole N. James. Bill was their oldest child.

Bill is survived by his daughter, Amanda Lynn Bertania. Amanda has two children, Alyssa and Camden, who love and miss their PopPop. Bill is also survived by his son, John Ciszek.

Bill was my oldest brother, my best friend, my go-to. I, as well as all our sisters and brothers, will miss him so much. I was always proud to say “That’s my brother, Bill,” so proud that I gave my son his nickname, “Billy.”

I am not sure how all of us, and I mean “all,” will get along without Bill. My heart is broken into two pieces. I know all of my brothers and sisters and the rest of the family feel the same.

Speaking of brothers and sisters, there were ten of us; now there are nine.

I am Debra “Cathy” Brown, of Cumberland, MD, now the oldest. Bill used to try to convince everyone that I was older than him; now I guess I am. I have one son, Billy. The next in line is Nadine L. Hanekamp, of Cresaptown, MD. She has two daughters and one son, Nicole, Julia, and Benjamin. Then comes Charlotte S. M. Warner. She has two daughters and one son, Laura Jo, Michael, and Stephanie. Next in line is A. Rosalie Knippenberg. She has one daughter and three sons, Amy Jo, Mikey, Troy, and Avery. Next is Cynthia A. Corley. She has one son, David. Next is John H. Clark. He has two sons and two daughters, Johnny, Andrew, Jacqulynn, and McKayla. Then comes Jaunice E. Clark. She has one daughter and one son, Elizabeth and Eli. Next is Franklin H. James. He has two daughters, Franky and Taylor. And, our little sister, Tara V. Walker. She has four daughters, Raychael, Shara, Tamara, and Samantha. Plus, there are numerous nieces and nephews.

Bill is also survived by one aunt, Annafaye C. Hare; and one uncle, Ernest “Bud” Billmeyer, Jr.

Bill was truly an awesome Dad, PopPop, uncle, brother, cousins, and a good friend. He was loved and respected by all who knew him.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Sunday, April 2, from noon to 1 p.m. The funeral service will immediately follow at 1 p.m. with Rev. Sherrill Dillon officiating.
